As a photographer who is brand new to an area, I have noticed many people ask, "what type of imagery do you shoot?" Then, when I answer with something to the tune of, "everything!" There is a sort of dissonance that occurs....
The quote that prompted this post:
"Don't ask what the world needs. Ask what makes you come alive, and go do it. Because what the world needs is people who have come alive." -- Howard Thurman
Working on life around Thurman's quote right now through the process of building of my business. I have finally realized again, realized in a new light -- through a series of coffee shop rants, a temporary case of the mind spins, deeply felt emotions, a tug-of-war match with the soul, and the two sacred ears of my incredible partner -- that it is not about the genre for me! It is so exciting and liberating to begin to full-belly-breathe into the initial reason I pursued photography. It is something that cannot be classified into a subcategory or even three subcategories, as it is an overall vision that comes down to the simple question of:
Is the project uplifting and nourishing?
Uplifting and nourishing to the self, the earth, and the universe. I must be true to myself and breathe deep and ask my soul if there is resonation.
Ah, this melody sounds so sweet. A gentle mission that will allow for powerful expansion! I am beyond delighted to walk in the light of this statement from here on.
Let Shine & Be Shine! Peace, my friends!
