Confident Wings

One week before the eclipse over Teton Valley, August 14th

I made the trek to the top of Table Mountain with my roomie. Wildflowers taller than either of us and even a few moose also enjoying the lush mountain greens! When we were just about to the top, where we felt we could practically touch the Grand, there was a hawk dousing her wings in the undercurrent. Then, after moments of leaning into the resistance, she would tuck her wings and free fall for a couple feet only to jut her wings back out into the open and catch herself. She had a focused playfulness about her that enthralled my heart. A balance that I am always seeking and constantly overstepping one way or the other it seems. What I came to realize though is that fun is survival at its finest state. Through the games we play as children and the aliveness that we carry through our lives, we inevitably become stronger and more confident. Let’s remember to have some fun in the resistance, while also taking a free fall every now and again

just to feel the wind carry our wings once again!
